What exactly is a Digital Camera?

A digital camera is very like an ordinary camera with one significant difference. Instead of the picture being stored on a film it is stored on a memory card.

How do I use a Digital Camera?

You press the button and a photo is taken. Sound familiar! Also you can see the photo on the screen at the back of the camera and if you don't like the photo, you can delete it.

How do I get the Photo out of the Camera?

You can take the card out of the camera and put it into Magee's new Digital Photographic Kiosk, which will allow you to choose what photographs you want printed on real photographic paper from as little as €5 for 20 photographs. You can also connect your camera to your computer and download your photos onto your computer where you can:

email to friends
store them enhance them
look at them on your T.V. or
print them on special photographic paper

What happens when my memory card is full?

When you have printed your photos, you can delete them and re-use your memory card.

How do I store my photos, like my old negatives for future prints?

You can also store your images on a CD, which can be done in Magee's Digital Kiosk for only €2.99 per memory card or you can store them on your hard drive in your computer or write them onto a CD on your own computer if you have a CD writer.

What are megapixels?

Pixels are dots of colour and 3 megapixels means 3 million dots of colour on your photograph. Generally the more megapixels your camera has, the more pixels in the photograph, hence the quality of the photograph taken is better.

What is an optical and digital Zoom?

A optical zoom allows the photographer to get closer to the particular object being photographed, with no loss of quality and a digital zoom allows for the same thing but the quality of the photograph is reduced by using it.
